VERSION: 4.0 16-bit Windows GENERAL NOTES: Macromedia's Shockwave for Director is a Director 4.0.4 compatible Windows playback application. This is the first shipping version and has been renamed from 1.0 to 4.0 due to its support of Director 4.0.4 movies. SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS: Hardware: IBM compatible PC: - Intel 80486-25 Mhz or greater - VGA with 8-bit or 256 colors - 6 MB free disk space - 8 MB RAM Software: Microsoft Windows 3.1 Netscape: 2.0 16-Bit KNOWN PROBLEMS WITH WORKAROUNDS: - Function varies when running in anything other than 256 colors. Workaround: Run in 256 color mode or 8-bit screen depth. - General redraw/refresh problems. Workaround: Select Reload from the buttonbar or View menu. - A broken icon appears and the movie is not loaded. Workaround: Select Reload from the buttonbar or View menu and ensure the web server MIME-type is set to "application/x-director". Workaround: Increase Netscape's Disk Cache to 5000 Kb. KNOWN PROBLEMS WITHOUT WORKAROUNDS: - NetLingo commands. PreloadNetThing may not work in conjunction with gotoNetMovie and gotoNetPage. For best results, set the Cache Preference to "Verify Documents Once Per Session". To set the Cache Preference, select Network Preferences from the Options menu. - Tables. Movies embedded in tables may crash. - Windows NT. The 16-bit Plug-In may work with 16-bit Netscape under Windows NT, however, it has not been certified nor will it be supported at this time.
